I am an amateur photographer. I have found that as I got further and further into technology, I had to give up some of my younger hobbies. Simply put, after I was no longer in schools, I found that doing sculpture became very cost prohibitive. So I am working on transferring those skills into photography.

However, it is very important to note that this is a hobby. I shoot digital, because it's cheaper, but it does have the drawback to make it far too easy for me spend even more time in front of the computer. As such, I will crop and caption my photos, but I will not dig into serious image editing with Photoshop or gimp. I do not do this because it "maintains the integrity of the image", but more because having this rule does two things for me. First of all, it forces me to improve my core photographic skills. Secondly, it prevents this from being yet another "waste time on the computer" hobby.

I mostly shoot nature and animals. I grew up in the country, and miss aspects of that life now that I am a city dweller. Also, I tend to have a busy life, so spending significant time going to remote locations tends to be impractical, so I find nature where I can - parks, zoos, little spots in the city.

I used to keep my photos on my personal site, but that has become impractical. You can find my photos over on Flickr (also, sets and collections). Please post any comments there, as that is why these types of social media exist.

Sometimes I just take photos because I like how they look.  They're not part of a story, they're not for a project.  Here, you will find some instances of these photos.
  • Stories   ( 4 Articles )
In addition to simply taking photos and posting them on flickr, I sometimes go the extra mile and turn them into photo-stories. Listed here are the stories that I have done. Enjoy.
  • Stories-Local   ( 4 Articles )
Most of my photo stories are stored on sites outside of mine. This both gives me wider range of distribution and reduces the load on my server. These stories are my local copies, in case the primary servers are down.
