About six months ago, I picked up a book. Rare Animals of the World by Francesca Salvadori. It's what I call a "toothbrush book" (what others call a coffee table book (I don't have a coffee table (I used to, long story))) because I read a few pages as I brush my teeth.
Today, I read about the White-Tailed Gnu. The book says:
Although it is usually very calm and tranquil, the animal will suddenly and for no apparent reason, leap into the air, race around and show off. It will stop just as suddenly and resume its placid browsing.
I thought my fellow open sourcey friends would find this amusing. Edit: Now that I have completed reading this book, I think it's decent if you can find it cheaply. It's not a cover-to-cover read, though. It's better in small doses.
